What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a relatively safe treatment for removal of hair ANYWHERE! Yes, you read that correctly, removal of hair located anywhere(visible and non visible hair). Are you tired of spending countless hours or years plucking, tweezing, waxing, electrolysis, shaving? Laser hair removal may provide the reduction of hair that you have been searching for but have yet to experience. Our practice uses the Cutera CoolGlide laser and Cutera Prowave. It is a laser that comfortably glides effortlessly across your skin like a sailboat sailing across the waters of the ocean. TLC Aesthetics has the ability to treat hair of ALL SKIN TYPES safely and effectively. There is NO laser out there which will PERMANENTLY REMOVE ALL HAIR but, many can help with the permanent REDUCTION OF HAIR with reduction usually about 60-90%. Patients with gray or blonde hair are not good candidates for laser hair removal. The best candidates for laser hair removal treatment are very light skin and dark hair. Further, removal of hair for “unibrows” is not safe given the close proximity to the eyes(which lasers should prevented from making contact with).
Laser hair removal is a procedure with essentially no downtime, noninvasive and relatively safe. The importance is to understand that there will be multiple treatments required as hair grows in phases. In order to capture all three phases of hair growth(growth, regression and resting), the treatments need to be spaced out appropriately. Laser hair removal may also require periodic touch ups which we can provide to help you achieve dramatic results. After the treatment, the area may be red and/or swollen and about 3-7 days later, you may experience some regrowth of hair. The majority of these hairs are being shed and not regrowing. It is important NOT to PLUCK or WAX, but it is allowable to shave. Patients may need on average 3-6 treatments but may need more depending on the case.
